Motorcycle-truck crash on bypass

Metro Life Flight, KLG and Perry Township fire personnel prepare to load 44-year-old John Sexton of North Jackson into a chopper on the U.S. Route 62/Route 45 bypass, just south of the state Route 14 intersection outside Salem where his Harley Davidson motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Dodge pickup driven by Meghan Hickman, 33, of Lisbon, Friday evening. Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Miller of the Lisbon post said Sexton was in stable condition with non-lifethreatening injuries at Summa Akron City Hospital. Hickman was cited for failure to yield after her northbound vehicle on the bypass attempted to turn left to travel west on Route 14 in front of the southbound motorcycle. According to Miller, Sexton’s brakes locked up and he was unable to stop, clipping the back end of the pickup and losing control. He was wearing a helmet. The accident was reported at 6:17 p.m. and there were a handful of witnesses. Perry Township fire department first responders assisted KLG and Perry Township Police helped control the scene, along with help from Salem Police with traffic control.
