Fire breaks out at Strader home in Hanover Township
Firefighters were aided in th quick knock down of a house fire at the Strader residence at 10167 Gavers Road in Hanover Township because the structure was built around a log home.
Chief Tim Wood said the fact that the house was a log home on the interior helped slow the fire down because the big logs didn’t burn as fast as a wood frame house would.
The fire broke out shortly around 3:50 p.m., and firefighters cleared the scene just after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Hanover Township fire departments were assisted by Winona, Lisbon and Franklin Township fire departments. KLG Ambulance provided blankets to the residents.
The home was owned by Towanna Strader, wife of local musician Randy Strader, and was being used as a duplex by Jeff and Connie Strader and their children who resided on the bottom floor and by Kelly Strader, who lived upstairs in an apartment. Everyone got safely out of the house including their pets. The Red Cross was called to aid the displaced families.
Chief Wood said the fire is undetermined at this point but was not suspicious in nature. The home is insured.
