Flag retirement at EOS

Matt Henderson, a retired U.S. Army captain and teacher at the county Educational Opportunity School, burns some of the 20 flags that were collected for disposal by EOS students and staff. The flag retirement ceremony was held Friday in the Lisbon town square and hosted by the EOS, which is for students under the care of county juvenile court. The ceremony was preceded by the attention to colors, pledge of allegiance, call to order by EOS teacher and Navy veteran Tina Simmons and prayer by the Rev. Mark Wilds. After some student readings, the honor guard of Salineville American Guard Post 442 performed a salute to the flag, followed by “Taps” performed by Lisbon High School band members Alanna Powell and Katie Chludzinski.
