Salem Twp. trustees hold reorganizational meeting

FRANKLIN SQUARE — Salem Township trustees elected Trustee John Wilms as chairman and Trustee Ray Heddleson as vice chairman for 2018 during their reorganization meeting.

The only policy change for 2018 was trustees adopted a road department clothing allowance which will provide $250 per year, per employee, for pants.

“That’s because we dropped Cintas,” Fiscal Officer Wilms said.

Cintas is an industrial clothing supplier.

Employees are required to submit receipts for the work pants they purchase in order to be reimbursed.

Trustees also changed the regular meeting dates to the second and last Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m.

The change is from holding meetings on the second and last Wednesdays of the month.

Fiscal Officer Cathy Wilms said the biggest reason for the change was that anytime the Columbiana County Township Association or the state township associations met it was usually on a Wednesday.

“Anytime the county association has anything,” Wilms said, “it’s on a Wednesday and was always in conflict … and with the state association meeting, it always starts on Wednesday.”

No other changes were noted and Wilms said the fire contracts remain in force with the Winona Fire Department through 2019 and with the Leetonia Fire Department through 2020.
