LEETONIA — A local church is offering a special meal to help fund money for its food pantry.

St. Patrick Church will host its third annual chicken parmesan dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 20 in the social hall to benefit the food pantry. The seventh- and eighth-grade CCD classes will host the event.

Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 years and younger. The menu will include chicken parmesan, zitti, vegetables, salad, rolls and butter, punch and dessert.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the church’s food pantry, which serves upward of 100 families in the Leetonia community through its distributions the third Saturday of each month.

“[The pantry] is a very good thing for this community, does a lot of good for a lot of people,” said volunteer Suzanne Tobuck. “This dinner helps keep money in our account, helps keep us going. There’s times when we’re down to just praying and hoping.”

The annual dinner helps fund distributions particularly during holidays, when families receive turkeys and hams, Tobuck said.

Tickets will be available at the door, but community members are encouraged to make reservations by calling 260-458-7147. Take-outs will also be available calling the same number; dinners can be picked up in the alley by the kitchen door.

For information about donating to the pantry or who is eligible, call the church at 330-427-2249.
