Annual Cardboard Sled Run is Feb. 24 at Kelley Park

The Salem Public Library and the Salem Parks & Recreation Department invites participation in its 3rd annual Cardboard Sled Run on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Kelley Park in Salem. This fun and family-oriented “Go Wild in the Park” program is open to individuals, families, schools and/or classrooms, clubs, organizations and businesses. All that is needed is a cardboard sled. The run will be held down the hill at Kelley Park. Hot drinks will be provided. Not sure how to make a cardboard sled? Terry Smith, aka “Dr. Cardboard”, will be at the Salem Memorial Building at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday to guide attendees through the sled-making process. He will demonstrate, from start to finish, how to build a very simple and basic cardboard sled. He will also construct another one of his “masterpieces” and answer questions. Those in attendance will have a chance to win the sleds that “Dr. Cardboard” constructs during the program and those seen in this photo with him. Registration is requested for the Feb. 7 cardboard sled workshop. To register, go online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call Salem Parks Director Shane Franks at 330-332-5512. (Submitted photo)
