South Range board OKs contract extension

BEAVER TWP. — The South Range school board this week approved one-year contract extensions with the certified and classified unions.

The board approved the extensions with the South Range Education Association and the South Range Classified Employees Association through June 30, 2019. The contracts include a 1 percent base salary raise for all employees that had been approved as part of the previous contract, but all benefits remain unchanged.

The previous contract had been for three years, but the board cannot approve a contract beyond years projected in deficit cash balance.

In other business, the board also approve supplemental coaching contracts for the spring of 2017-2018 to Jeffrey DeRose as for varsity softball, Madison Kurtz for assistant softball, Daryl Kurtz for assistant softball, Samantha McMahon for assistant softball, James Hanek for varsity baseball, Paul Munson for assistant baseball, William Sattler for assistant baseball, Krista Butcher for middle school girls track, Jordan Baker for middle school boys track, Danielle Buzzacco for middle school assistant track, Frank Dispenza for assistant high school band, Frank Dispenza for middle school band and Jodine Palmer for high school musical director.

The board also approved for the high school drama department Robin Ptrotain as choreographer, Jeff DiCesare as musician and Kim Hvisdos as musician.

Additionally the board approved as unpaid volunteer coaches for 2017-2018 were Donald DeChellis for varsity baseball, Ryan Miller for varsity baseball, Daniel Macinga for varsity baseball and Tanner Greene for middle school track.
