Salem no longer picking up leaves
SALEM — City residents are being reminded that the Salem street department will not pick up leaf bags, cut limbs, grass clippings, shrubs or other yard waste from the curb lawn.
City Service/Safety Director Ken Kenst said they’ve noticed some of the paper leaf bags are being put out by residents this spring, but the city isn’t picking them up this time of year. Leaves will only be picked up in the fall and limbs will only be picked up from storm damage.
Residents are being told to contact their trash hauler or landscaper to remove any leafs or yard waste or limbs at this time. The street department has been distributing a flyer to properties with leaf bags out at the curb, notifying them that the items won’t be picked up by the city.
