Window falls out downtown

Salem firefighters responded to 525 E. State St. at 4:33 p.m. Friday where a third story window pane fell out of the Ohio Mutual building. No one was injured and a neighboring store employee swept up the broken glass. Capt. Jeff Olinger of the Salem Fire Department said he contacted the owner, who resides outside of the city, and he is supposed to contact the fire department so an inside inspection can be made regarding the reason why it fell out. Olinger said the incident has been referred to the department’s building inspector. Salem Police Officer Matt Cochran assisted Olinger in stringing safety tape around the scene, in front of 525 and 515 E. State St. (Salem News photos by Larry Shields)
