Goshen Township trustees OK front sidewalk replacement

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP–Township trustees this week hired a company to replace the front sidewalk at the administration building.

The trustees hired Level Masonry Concrete LLC to replace the sidewalk at a cost of $2,250. The concrete in front of the main entrance rose and cracked due to frost the past winter, causing a walking hazard.

Trustee Teresa Stratton also provided two other estimates submitted for the project– Custom Concrete at $2,790 and Custom Concrete Creations at $3,100. She said she also contacted Matt Miller Concrete, who was recommended at a previous meeting, but that he did not provide an estimate.

In other business, the trustees accepted the resignations of police officer Ryan Young and part-time desk officer Mary Hrovatic, and hired Zachary Scott as a part-time police officer.

Also at the meeting, Fiscal Officer Tom Knoedler reported the new foundation pouring schedule for the cemeteries has been added to the township website. Requests received October through April will be poured in May (weather permitting) while requests received May through September will be poured in October (weather permitting). If there are not enough requests to pour, orders may be moved to the next scheduled pouring.

Additionally, trustee Chair Bob McCracken reported the company that installed the new roof (Allied Commercial Roofing Services LTD) over the police wing also fixed the gym roof problem in which birds were entering the gym through gaps in the flashing areas. The company did the repair at no cost to the township.

Also, Recycling Coordinator Paul Manypenny reported the recent scrap drive collected 10,220 pounds of material for $706.

The next regular trustees meeting will be held at 7 p.m. July 9 at the administration building.
