WB school board hires contractor for middle school roof repairs
BELOIT–The West Branch school board Thursday night hired a contractor to make repairs at the middle school.
The board hired Stitle Construction to repair of the middle school cupolas at a cost of $40,000. Cupolas are the decorative sky light structures on the school’s roof.
The board in April authorized schools Superintendent Timothy Saxton to proceed with the project paid for with money secured through a lawsuit against the original contractor for not properly installing the cupolas when the building was constructed.
The board also approved an agreement with the Village of Beloit for EMT services for home football games at $75 per contest up to 24.
Additionally the board accepted donations of $1,707.28 from the Knox PTO for field trip transportation, $1,757.77 from the Damascus PIE for field trip transportation, $150 from West Branch Girls Fast Pitch to the high school girls softball program, $100 from H-P Products for high school wrestling, $360 in materials for the baseball fields from Chappell & Zimmerman and $878 in services for the football and baseball fields from Smith Landscaping.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23 in the high school media center, preceded by a public work session at 6 p.m. in the high school conference room.
