Lisbon Council has four applicants for vacant seat

LISBON — Village council will have four applicants to choose from when filling a vacancy at Tuesday’s meeting. Fiscal Officer Tracey Wonner said the following people submitted letters of interest and/or resumes for the council seat held by Roger Gallo:

–Ryan Berg, 37, West Chestnut Street: Berg is a clerk at the Columbiana County Juvenile Court and studied public administration at Kent State University and accounting at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

–Wilfred Carlisle, 78, East Chestnut Street: Carlisle is a former councilman.

–Jeff Elliott, 59, Summit Street: Elliott is the maintenance man at the county courthouse and for other county buildings. He also served a term on the Lisbon school board.

–Jason Leggett, 44, West Lincoln Way: Leggett works as a pipe inspector for Tubescope-Vallourec Star Steel and studied museum studies/historic preservation at Youngstown State University. Leggett is also a Civil War re-enactor.

Gallo, who served as council president, became mayor following the resignation of Mayor Joseph Morenz, who stepped down at the end of July. Council announced at its Aug. 14 meeting it would accept letters of interests until Aug. 22 and name a replacement at the Aug. 28 meeting. Gallo is serving the remaining 17 months of Morenz’s term, and his replacement will serve the rest of his council term, which also expires on Dec. 31, 2019. Once a replacement is in place council will then elect a new council president.
