Gas tanks dug up

A work crew from SEI Construction Inc. began demolition of the True North Shell gas station-convenience store at 2203 E. State St. on Monday. Craig and Brad Stackhouse and Dwayne Culbertson, employees of the Orwell, Ohio-based company uncovered the three large gasoline storage tanks on the lot on Tuesday. They expect to be on the job site for two to three weeks. The tanks will be scrapped and the pumps will be reused. The Eastgate Plaza property is part of the Carnegie Co. portfolio with offices in Solon. A new tenant has not been announced. True North operated the station since 1999 and it closed on Jan. 3.
