Third Street fire

Salem firefighters responded to 214 E. Third St. shortly after 7 p.m. for a structure fire on the second floor of a residence. No one was injured and the occupants all got out OK. The department responded with all units and called in all shifts, as police blocked off a section of the street for traffic control. Firefighters and Fire Chief Scott Mason were still on the scene after 9 p.m. using a thermal imaging camera to detect hot spots. The street department was called to spread salt as needed in the area.
