New lights for downtown Salem

About a dozen volunteers, with the help of the Salem City electrical department, this week completed stringing Christmas lights on six trees along South Broadway Avenue in downtown Salem. The Downtown Salem Christmas Decorations Committee, part of the Salem Beautification Committee of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, raised funds for the lights which will remain lit year round to brighten the area, according to committee Chairman Joe Kozar.
