SALEM — Pool owners looking for supplies and those in the market for a pool, spa or outdoor kitchen can find what they need at J&M Pools, LLC in downtown Salem, 130 S. Broadway Ave., where a grand opening celebration will be held Friday and Saturday at the company’s new retail store.

“We’ve been getting a great response,” owner Jim Shoemaker said, since a soft opening on May 1.

Hours for the open house are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Store manager Michelle Fani said they’ll have some giveaways and there’s a coupon for $15 off a $100 purchase. On Friday, they’ll have light refreshments and on Saturday, customers will be treated to a cookout.

“Come in and get the deals while the deals last,” she said.

The 2,700 square feet of space is home to all the supplies a pool owner may need and more, including chemicals, pool toys and games, pool water testing, Nice coolers, cash and carry above-ground pools, spas, spa supplies, pool parts, pool supplies, automatic pool cleaners, outdoor kitchens and Bull grills. The store also sells replacement parts for Intex above-ground pools that are sold at Walmart.

Shoemaker said they even have an automatic pool cleaner that can be controlled by phone. Some have their own filters and some use the existing pool filter. He said there’s a lot of features in them.

“Everything we sell, we warranty,” he said.

The business is a warranty station for Zodiac, Pentair and Hayward products.

Fani said customers can also come in to check out their pool liners and order them from the store.

Come winter, the store will become a headquarters for Christmas, with Christmas trees and decorations, gift wrapping and plans for cookies with Santa.

Shoemaker bought an established pool business in Salem earlier this year and renamed it J&M Pools, LLC, opening a new business/warehouse location at 1335 S. Lundy Ave. and holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony in April. J&M Pools installs in-ground pools and spas, maintains pools and does repairs, opens and closes pools and fills all pool needs. J&M Pools doesn’t install above-ground pools, but sells them at the retail location. Lori Brooks, who worked for the previous owner, is the service manager at the South Lundy Avenue location. Shoemaker kept all the employees when he bought the business.

He said he’s expanded with more personnel and more trucks, employing five full-time, not including himself, and three part-time.

Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The store also plans to be open on Sundays through June at least from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., but closed on all holidays.

“So far, everybody’s really welcomed us,” Shoemaker said.

The store can be reached at 234-567-4263 and the warehouse can be reached at 330-332-0174. The website is jmpoolsllc.com.
