Green Trustees OK repairs to parking lots

GREENFORD — Green Township trustees Tuesday night approved repairs to the parking lots at the administration complex on Lisbon Road.

The trustees approved $8,000 for R&R Seal Coating of Lisbon to crack seal the parking lots. The company will also paint parking stripes at the community building and no parking spots at the ambulance bay.

Trustee George Toy said he requested the company complete the project prior to the fireman’s festival in early August, but that the company could not guarantee it.

In other  business, the trustees authorized the road department to coordinate with Beaver Township officials to complete patching on Garfield Road prior to the summer chip and seal program. The trustees also accepted the resignation of Megan Goehring from the fire department and hired Bob Strunburg, Mike Kidd and John Pallante to the department.

Also at the meeting, a resident shared concerns and photos of a flooded Cherry Valley Creek on Middletown Road between Washingtonville and Lisbon roads. She asked if there is any Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds or other federal monies to help with flood control in the area. She also asked if the township would be able to dredge the area to help stem the flooding.

Trustee Mark Stepuk said the board has fielded multiple complaints about flooding and that the past week has been about as bad as it has ever been.
