LISBON — A Center Township man was charged Saturday night with numerous offenses after he allegedly attempted to run over his brother with a vehicle when his brother tried to stop him from driving while intoxicated with children in his vehicle.
Brandon Nelder, 36, Shady Lane, Lisbon, appeared for video arraignments Monday in County Municipal Court, charged with felonious assault, endangering children, domestic violence, reckless operation of a motor vehicle on private property and OVI first offense. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 15.
Deputies responded to a domestic incident between the two brothers at a Shady Lane Road, Center Township, home at 10:50 p.m. Saturday.
Walter Nelder told deputies his brother was intoxicated and drove to their home from a party with the two children, ages 3 and 5, in the backseat of the vehicle with him.
An altercation occurred, Walter Nelder told deputies, with his brother putting his hands around his throat and attempting to take him to the ground.
After the fight, Brandon Nelder allegedly got back into vehicle, with the children still inside, and started to drive. Walter Nelder said he jumped on the front of the vehicle and told him to stop, but Brandon Nelder accelerated and Walter Nelder fell off the vehicle. Brandon Nelder then reportedly struck a railroad tie, circled his vehicle back around and purposely struck Walter Nelder with the vehicle causing a possible head injury and other injuries to his left leg.
