Supplement Station to sponsor Faith and Family weekend

SALEM — For The Supplement Station on East Pidgeon Road, this weekend is all about Faith and Family, offering free outdoor yard games and a family-friendly movie Friday night, then a free day of musical praising on Saturday with singers and musicians from Salem area churches.

“Just come to enjoy the fellowship and a fun weekend,” owner Kristi Johnson said.

Johnson and her sister, Kelli Miller, have owned the Supplement Station for over a year now and gradually they’ve been adding new features, such as the recently opened deli/cafe and smoothie bar and coming next week, ice cream. They wanted to do something for the community and decided on the Faith and Family Weekend.

“We both have a strong Christian foundation and wanted to share that with people,” Johnson said.

The fun begins Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. with yard games, such as cornhole, ring toss, a big Connect 4 and Kerplunk. Then at 9 p.m., families can settle in for the free showing of “The Resurrection of Gavin’s Stone” with free popcorn. The store cafe and smoothie bar will both be open for purchases.

The address is 1139 E. Pidgeon Road, also known as the state Route 45 bypass, and community members should bring blankets and lawn chairs both days.

On Saturday, Praise in the Pavilion will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. featuring local artists from various churches, such as praise bands and musicians even with some violins. Johnson said it’s a chance to showcase some of the talent inside the churches and have everyone come together. DC Music will provide the sound system for the event. The store deli/cafe will be open for sandwiches and salads.

Supplement Station offers vitamins, supplements, health food and items by local artisans and vendors.

Johnson said the cafe has been open for a month, with personnel preparing fresh made-to-order sandwiches and made-to-order salads, with a different homemade soup every day and other cold options. She said everything is homemade, right down to the salad dressing and croutons, with the cafe offering just good, wholesome food. The deli offers Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, There’s also the smoothie bar and next week, Supplement Station will add ice cream to the mix.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, but once the ice cream joins the menu, hours may be extended for the summer.
