34west Theater Company announces 2013 schedule

COLUMBIANA- 34west Theater Company’s 2013 season offers high energy musicals and sidesplitting comedies at Das Dutch Village Inn starting with the zany whodunit “Mystery Goes Hollywood” Jan. 25, 26 and Feb. 14, 15, 16, with a special Valentine’s matinee Feb. 14.

House detective Perry Columbus kicks off the theater season with plenty of laughs and intrigue in an all-new interactive mystery on Hollywood’s biggest night.

“Our entire season is made up of brand new comedies,” said Artistic Director Jeff Querin. “Sketch comedies like Saturday Night Live or Carol Burnett. We hope folks leave happy and aching from laughing so much.”

Plenty of laughs abound in the rockabilly musical “Sock Hops and Soda Pops” playing March 20-23, April 17-20 and May 1-4, with special weekday matinees included. Murphy’s diner is rockin’ around the clock in this outrageous feel-good musical from the creators of last year’s “Doo Wops and Beauty Shops.”

“People came out of the woodwork for last year’s show,” said Querin. “This year’s show promises to raise the roof even higher.”

34west will feature Gershwin, Cole Porter and more in the ritzy new musical “Speakin’ Easy” July 31-Aug. 3, Sept. 18-21 and Oct. 23-26, with special weekday matinees included. A down-and-out drifter finds his voice in the most unlikely of places in this fast-paced romp through the roaring twenties.

Finishing off the season, the Nutmeg Twins are coming to town and guess who’s in love? The brand new “Jimmy D’s Holly Jolly Christmas” runs Nov. 29 through Dec. 22, with special weekday matinees included.

“These characters are audience favorites,” says Querin. “It’s Hee-Haw meets White Christmas. Get your tables now cause audiences love the Atkins family!”

Das Dutch Village Inn provides a four-course meal featuring a buffet style dinner with three entrees, assorted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Also included in the meal is a variety of fine desserts and a low-sugar option. Groups can sit eight or 10 persons to a table, which makes for great enjoyment with friends and family throughout the evening.

All dinner theaters are held in the elegant banquet center of Das Dutch Village Inn of Columbiana, 150 E. state Route 14. Seating for evening shows begins at 6:45 p.m. with a four-course meal beginning at 7 p.m. Seating for matinees begins at 11:45 p.m. with a four-course meal at noon.
