Village Varieties 4-H Club holds riding meeting

Members of the Village Varieties 4-H Club met recently at Sunset Acres Horse Farm in Beloit for their first riding meeting of the year. Twenty youth and 15 horses attended. Jeri Close is a 4-H horse advisor for the club that meets in North Benton. She said she is amazed at the increased level of interest in horses this year. “Last year, eight of our members took horses to the Mahoning County Fair. Just this week, (Feb. 12) at our enrollment meeting, 24 youth registered with a 4-H horse project for 2013. Locally, the interest that youth have taken in horses has soared over the last year.” (Submitted photo)
