WR?Rangers recognize award winners

BERLIN CENTER- At the August meeting of Western Reserve Rangers 4-H Club congratulations were extended to Vice President Jena Styka of Canfield and Levi Smith of Berlin Center who will serve on the 2013 4-H Royal Court. Styka also recognized club members for receiving awards at the Ohio State Fair. During the 4-H Fashion Revue Shannon Marshburn of Columbiana received a First Place Clock Trophy for “Shopping Savvy,” Tiffany Voland of North Jackson received an Outstanding of the Day Rosette for “Active Sportswear” and Alyssa Higgins of Lake Milton received both an “Outstanding of the Day Rosette” and “The Pork Council Silver Platter Award” for her pig suede woven purse in “Accessories for Teens.”

Other Outstanding of the Day Rosettes were won by Willaim Reph of Ellsworth for “Bottle Rockets” and Jena Styka for her PowerPoint presentation “Ready Or Not.” Styka also received a “Superior Rosette Award” for her project “Pantry Panic.” Outstanding of the Day Awards are presented to the top 20 percent and a Superior Award Rosette is given to the top 10 percent in each project area at the state fair.

Karl Reph, health leader, gave advice on how to treat and prevent insect bites. The new club decorations for all species of livestock for the Canfield Fair were shown by Anna Duda. Clothing members were reminded that the Canfield Fair Style Revue will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in The Youth Organization Building. Members were reminded to bring their 4-H projects for display in the club fair booth to the Youth Organization Building on Sunday, Aug. 25, between 3 and 5 p.m. Nolan Snyder was recognized for placement in a recent golf tournament for Mahoning Valley Teens. Jessie Cummings, Olivia Haid, Alyssa Higgins, Jena Styka and Tiffany Voland shared their favorite 4-H project they completed this summer.

Look for all of the club members projects and livestock at the Canfield Fair in the Junior Fair area.
