Goodness Grows class planned Oct. 22 at Common Ground Church

The final Kitchen + Garden classes on creative cooking of fresh and local seasonal fruits and vegetables will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 22 at Common Ground Church, 2310 W. South Range Road, North Lima. Sessions are provided by Goodness Grows, the outreach ministry of the church. Co-teachers Sophia Buggs of Youngstown and Ellen Bowman of Greenford will greet participants for an overview on cooking with fall crops. Featured this week will be Brussels sprouts, kale, potatoes, leeks, sweet potatoes, winter squash and pumpkin. Fresh apples of eating and baking varieties will be on hand for sampling. The class will end up in the church’s commercial kitchen to make and taste food items with these crops. The series is a partnership with Northern Columbiana County Habitat for Humanity.
