Events benefit HSCC

COLUMBIANA – Two fundraisers will benefit the Humane Society of Columbiana County (HSCC) this weekend.

The Fundraiser Fur Paws will be held today at American Legion Post 290, 44403 state Route 14 in Columbiana.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for food, a Chinese auction, Humane Society T-shirts and pet items and 50/50 raffle with No Name Band scheduled to perform from 8 to 11 p.m.

Tickets are $10 which includes dinner and $5 after 8 p.m. Individuals bringing a shelter item such as paper towel, kitty litter, garbage bags or wish list items will be entered into a special drawing. Call Cindy DePillo for more information at 330-429-2639.

On Saturday, the first annual Fast and Furriest 5-k Run/Walk Race and 500 Meter Doggie Dash takes place at Waterworth Park in Salem.

Custom engraved paw print medals will be awarded for winners for each age group from the 5-k and winners and their dogs from the Dog Dash.

Goodie bags, snacks, prizes and a Chinese auction will be included for the entrance fee of $20.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Pavilion #8 off of Superior Avenue.

Timing service is provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Service and is Run Salem Certified.

HSCC will be showcased on Sunday at the Guilford Lake Grille Fall Classic Bike Show where it will offer T-shirts and pet items for purchase along with information about adoptable pets and upcoming schedule at the HSCC Animal Resource Complex beginning at 1 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
