USO show scheduled Nov. 22-23 at United HS

HANOVERTON – United Local High School will present a USO show in the junior high gym at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 22-23 called “War Memories: A Vietnam War Story.”

The canteen dinner will include a sandwich, chips, dessert and beverage. The program tells the story of a teenaged brother and sister in their grandparents’ attic and their discovery of a box of pictures, medals and other articles that appear to be from the Vietnam War. The remainder of the program centers around their questioning of their grandparents about the war.

United Local vocal music teacher and program director Cindy Neiswanger has compiled stories from Vietnam veterans to incorporate into the original script written by local resident Jim Denman. The show will feature music and solos from the Vietnam War era performed by the high school jazz band under the direction of Nome Baker, as well as a vocal chorus consisting of United High School students and community members.
