Butler Grange honors members

SALEM – Butler Grange held an open meeting for its annual oyster dinner and long-term membership recognitions. Chaplain Myrtle Bailey opened devotions with a skit,”The Story of Christmas,” assisted by Ida Zepernick and Bill Speece. Honored for 75 years membership was James Zimmerman. Peggy Zimmerman accepted the certificate for her father, who was in the hospital with injuries suffered in a fall recently; Ronald Berger, 55 years, and Loran Weingart, 40 years (no long-term members were present.)

Ruth Ann Altenhof presented a Christmas theme program. Also presented were: The History of Christmas Cards, Margaret Zimmerman; The History of the Christmas Star, Dan Kiko; The History of Mistletoe, Sally Hays; The History of Santa Claus, Peggy Zimmerman; The History of Christmas Lights, Larry Kaufman; The History of Christmas Trees, Carol Speece; The History of Poinsettias, Calvin Zimmerman; and The History of The Yule Log, Zepernick. Pomona Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at Bayard Grange. The delegates will report from the Ohio State Grange Convention. Linda Brown will give report of the awards and recognitions for crafts etc. also from the convention.
