Blended family video seminar offered

SALEM – Faith Chapel Fellowship will host the video seminar series “Bringing Peace and Harmony to the Blended Family at 6:30 p.m. on Fridays from Jan. 3 through Feb. 7. The seminar was written by Dr. Kevin Leman, an internationally known Christian psychologist. Pastor Larry Paxson will facilitate the seminar.

The six inspiring and entertaining video lessons are titled: “Before all of us say “I do,” “With these kids, I thee wed,” “Blending without colliding,” “Surviving the birth order blender,” “Same language: Different dialect” and “Looking at life through your mate’s eyes.”

Chicken dinner planned in North Lima

NORTH LIMA – Calvary United Methodist Church of North Lima will hold its monthly drive-thru chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Jan. 9, or until sold out. The dinner consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $6 per dinner. Bishop Murry assigns area priests

YOUNGSTOWN – Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed two priests to new assignments.

The Rev. Leo Wehrlin is appointed pastor of Little Flower Parish in Middlebranch (Canton). The Rev. Christopher Cicero is appointed to his first pastorate at St. Jude Parish in Columbiana and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in East Palestine. Both appointments are effective Feb. 1.

Father Wehrlin was ordained June 12, 1993, after completing seminary studies at Mt. St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. He previously served as associate pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish in Ravenna and St. Michael Parish in Canton, and as pastor at St. Ann Parish in Sebring. Father Wehrlin was then appointed director of vocations for the diocese. Following that assignment, he was appointed pastor at St. Ambrose Parish in Garrettsville, and later St. Michael Parish in Windham while also keeping the pastorate at St. Ambrose, his current assignments. Father Wehrlin has also served on the diocesan Priests’ Council, as diocesan director of scouts, and as deanery moderator for the Youngstown Diocesan Council of Catholic Women of Portage County.

Father Cicero was ordained July 17, 2010, after completing seminary studies at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Following ordination, he returned to Rome and earned a License in Sacred Theology at the Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. Upon his return from Rome Father Cicero was appointed associate pastor at St. Christine Parish in Youngstown, his current assignment.

Ring in New Year with gospel

NORTH LIMA – A five-hour gospel music concert will ring in the New Year at the North Lima Business Complex auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Nationally known soloist Jerry Garcia of Adrian, Mich., will be featured for the evening hosted by the Golden Street Singers of Farmdale, Ohio.

Also performing will be Bill Sanders of Ipsilanti, Mich., an award-winning country gospel music artist.

Appearing at a Victory Gospel Jubilee event for the first time will by Christian ventriloquist Harley Osborne from Chardon, Ohio.

Garcia and his wife Sarah have a ministry of adopting and caring for terminally ill children who are abandoned by their parents. He travels across America as a gospel soloist to promote and support his unusual ministry.

Door prizes will be awarded including a two-night stay at Seven Springs Mountain Resort at Seven Springs, Pa. The package will include breakfasts and dinners both days.
