Veteran Career Assistance Program is Thursday
WARREN – The Military Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) will host its Veterans Career Assistance Program (VCAP) on Thursday for veterans looking to jumpstart their post-service careers. The VCAP is a personalized, interactive workshop designed to help veterans realize their skills, career goals, and employment opportunities in the civilian job market. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Trumbull County Commissioner’s Offices, with lunch provided.
MVRC career specialists will lead a series of seminars covering the essential tools veterans need in their job search, such as how to craft a relevant and marketable resume, and how to write a cover letter that reinforces their skill sets. The attendees will also learn how to present themselves in a professional setting and will participate in mock interviews.” These workshops give veterans the skills they don’t have to help them get the job they need,” said Greg Wedin, one of the career specialists in charge of the VCAP. “We help reinforce the skills they learned in the military and help them transfer those skills to a civilian job.”
Veterans interested in attending the Veterans Career Assistance Program must pre-register by calling Wedin at 330-272-0599 or Phyllis Collier at 330-752-7722. There are only 12 openings, but walk-ins will be welcome in the event that there is available space. For additional information visit militaryveteransresourcecenter.org.
