West Branch HS instrumental Music Dept. presenting concert
BELOIT – The West Branch High School Instrumental Music Department will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium. The free performance, titled “Fanfares, Festivals and Finales,” begins with the Brass Choir performing Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and the Percussion Ensemble’s rendition of “The Pink Panther” by Henry Mancini.
The Jazz Ensemble will perform Les Hooper’s “Saturday Night Blues,” Sammy Nestico’s arrangement of “God Bless the Child,” Neil Hefti’s famous drum set feature titled “Cute” and “Madrid” by composed by Eric Morales. Soloists include Dustin Kober, Brenden DeSanzo and Ben Dickerhoof.
The Symphonic Band’s selections will begin with the powerful strains of “Procession of the Nobles” by Nicholas Rimski-Korsakov, followed by Robert Russell Bennett’s timeless arrangement of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway classic “The King and I”, “Danse Bacchanale”composed by Camille Saint-Saens, Claude T. Smith’s brilliant “Prelude-Variations” and will conclude with Henry Fillmore’s stirring “Crosley March.”
