Grief support sessions will begin June 25

SALEM – Hospice of the Valley grief support sessions are open to all adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one through death. Sessions run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. beginning June 25 and continue for eight weeks. The sessions will be held in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Education Building at 251 S. Southeast Friends to welcome new pastor

SALEM The congregation of Salem Southeast Friends Church will welcome the Rev. Craig Henry as their new pastor on July 6. The community is invited to the welcome service at 10:45 a.m. with lunch and a time of fellowship following the service.

Rev. Henry is a recorded pastor with the Evangelical Friends Church Eastern Region. He is a graduate of Malone University, Ashland Theological Seminary and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Drive-thru dinner planned in North Lima

NORTH LIMA – The monthly drive-thru chicken dinner will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. July 10, or until sold out, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Avenue Ext. Cost is $6 per dinner.

The dinner consists of a baked chicken breast, stuffing, potato, gravy and a brownie. To reserve a dinner call 330-549-2588. Fifteen percent of each month’s profits is used for local mission projects.

Catholic Charities held open house

YOUNGSTOWN – Catholic Charities Regional Agency, an affiliate agency of the Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corporation serving Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties, hosted an open house and blessing at its new Mahoning County location, 319 W. Rayen Avenue, Youngstown, June 24.

The open house was held from 10 a.m. to noon. Refreshments and tours of the new office were available.

Grace Church to host Father’s Day worship

COLUMBIANA – Grace Church of Columbiana, 140 S. Main St., is hosting a Father’s Day Coffeehouse Worship Service at 10 a.m. Sunday in the church’s fellowship hall. Seating will be at tables and the service will be informal, informative and interactive.

The theme is “Things Our Fathers Used to Say.” The example of biblical fathers will be discussed. Every man attending will receive a gift. All are invited.

First Brethren Chuch to host VBS June 20, 21

NORTH GEORGETOWN – Vacation Bible school(VBS) will be hosted by First Brethren Church, 27333 Main St. Other sponsoring churches are Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Reading Church of the Brethren of Homeworth.

Sessions will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 20 and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 21. Lunch and snacks will be provided on Saturday.

“SonTreasure Island VBS is based a tropical island theme, according to Pastor Ron Waters, VBS coordinator. “Kids will have a great time learning new songs, hearing Bible stories about God’s love, creating crafts, and playing games.”

Activities will conclude with a VBS celebration at 3 p.m. June 21 at First Brethren.

All children from kindergarten this fall through grade five completed are invited.
