Mahoning County Junior Fair Board creates scholarship in memory of late advisor
CANFIELD – The second annual Mahoning County Junior Fair Round-Up Dance, sponsored by The Mahoning County Junior Fair Board, was a huge success. Junior Fair Board members from Mahoning, Trumbull, Lorain, Wood, Henry and Portage counties danced the night away with D.J. John Wargowsky providing the music and line dance lessons. The evening began with a motivational presentation on leadership by Dave Kohut from “Talk Is Cheap.”
The Junior Fair Board is sponsoring a trunk sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 7 at the Canfield Fairgrounds in the Junior Fair Area. Both indoor and outdoor vendor locations are available. New activities for 2014 event will be a cornhole tournament, live music, a petting zoo, and refreshments.
The George Grim Memorial Scholarship was started in April of 2014 in loving memory of Grim who died on March 26, 2014. Mahoning County Junior Fair Board is one of the sponsors. Grim was a great and loyal advisor to the Mahoning County Junior Fair Board and Boy Scouts of America. He was a Navy veteran and an Eagle Scout. This scholarship is open to any youth on Junior Fair Board or any Boy Scout.
Members of the Junior Fair Board marched in Boardman’s Memorial Day Parade in Boardman to honor Grim. Following the parade there was a tree dedication service in his memory.
Mahoning County Junior Fair Board will meet at 7 p.m. June 19 at Western Reserve Village on the Canfield Fairgrounds. Photos will be taken at 6:30 p.m.
