Western Reserve Rangers honor Ohio State Fair participants
BERLIN CENTER – President Tiffany Voland recognized Western Reserve Rangers 4-H Club members who excelled in county judging events at the club’s July 4-H meeting. Members representing Mahoning County at the Ohio State Fair include Shannon Marshburn for Shopping Savvy and Getting Started in Art, Abigail Schors for Great Looks For Less, Emma Reph for Loungewear, Taylor Smith for Embellish and Clothes for High School, Emily Smith for Outer Layers, Olivia Reph for Clothes for Middle School, Bailey Hornberger, Karl Reph, Olivia Reph,and William Reph, all for Public Speaking, Ian Hames for Woodworking, and Erin Styka for You Can Quilt and Self-Determined Quilting. Katie Prosser will be exhibiting market lambs and rabbits at the Ohio State Fair.
Several members received state alternate awards. They are Katie Prosser for Look Great For Less, Isabel Schors for Outer Layers, Richie Hedrick for Muskrat Trapping, Tiffany Voland for Scrapbooking, and Camille Kirk for Clothes For Middle School. A Special Designer Fabric Award was presented to Olivia Reph for Clothes for Middle School.
County Awards were won by Tiffany Voland and Bailey Hornberger for Clothes for High School, Olivia Haid for Loungewear, and Stephen Knezevich for Woodworking.
Club members and advisors participated in the Canfield Fourth of July Parade. Bill Hendricks of Professional Engine pulled the float in the parade. Health and Safety Leader Collin Meehan gave a report on parasites and how to treat for parasites and how to avoid them. Emily Smith shared that the County Style Revue was a success. Several members brought items to put in the Operation Christmas Child boxes.
The Rangers 4-H Club will meet again at 7 p.m. Aug. 14. Families may bring fingerfoods to share and members will talk about their favorite 4-H project.
