Alan Freed exhibit

Pictured is Mickey Cope Weaver who is encouraging visitation to the Salem Historical Society Museum at 208 S. Broadway Ave. to view the Alan Freed exhibit. Although the Freed family has decided to retain Alan’s ashes in Cleveland, the Salem Historical Society has a featured exhibit of Alan’s life including his years living in Salem since fifth grade through his graduation from Salem High School in 1940. The exhibit is displayed in the arts and entertainment section of the museum and can be viewed from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Other featured entertainment displays seen at the museum include Ponderosa Park with its rich musical programs of national known performers and Salem’s Quaker City Band with its origin in 1896.
