Candidates and Issues Night set in Deerfield Wednesday

DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Civic Association will host a Candidates and Issues Night  at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 Route14. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Representatives of candidates and issues should register their intention to speak upon arrival.

Salem Halloween parade lines up at 5:30 p.m. Thursday

SALEM — Salem Sons of AMVETS Post 45’s annual Halloween Parade lines up at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Salem City Hall. The Salem High School Band will lead the parade from Broadway Avenue to East State Street to the Kent State University City Center on North Lincoln Avenue for costume judging.

Fourth Thursday Banquet to feature fried chicken

SALEM — The Fourth Thursday Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. The meal will be sponsored by Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.

The menu offers fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, cole slaw, fresh fruits and vegetables and ice cream. Additional sponsors are needed. For more information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

Salem Masons offer breakfast buffet Saturday

SALEM–A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 10 and free for under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator.

Hanoverton trick or treat to be held Saturday

HANOVERTON — Trick or treat in Hanoverton will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Green Twp. trick or treating set for Saturday

GREEN TWP. — Trick or treating in Green Township is slated from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Stop by the Green Township Fire Station during trick or treat hours for a glow stick.

The Green Township Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual Halloween judging contest for all ages and parade at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Greenford Bobcat Space Center. Prizes will be awarded.

Following the judging there will be a parade through the town featuring the South Range High School Marching Band and the children. There will be doughnuts and apple cider provided at the conclusion at the fire station.

Wound Care Advancements discussion seats open

COLUMBIANA — Seats are still available for the Wound Care Advancements discussion at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 featuring Dr. Joseph Francisco, DPM at Das Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana. Light appetizers will be served. Reservations are required at 216-513-3160 before Oct. 31.

Salem Masons’ Faith Court sets fundraiser

SALEM — Salem Masons’ Faith Court is hosting a community fundraiser from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Bob Evans, 2299 E. State St. Bob Evans will donate 15 percent of sales that day to Faith Court when diners present a flyer. Flyers are available at the restaurant.

Christmas craft show planned  in Lake Milton

LAKE MILTON — Our Lady of the Lakes Ladies Guild is sponsoring its second annual Christmas craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 5 at St. Christine Family Center, 1254 Grandview Road.

The show features several local crafters/vendors, 50/50 raffle and lunch counter. Parking and admission are free at the handicapped accessible facility.

Programs offered at Salem Community Center

SALEM — The Salem Community Center (SCC) is offering the following programs and activities.

Tot Creative Movement for children ages 3 to 5 years will be held from 4:30 to 5 p.m. every Thursday through Nov. 17. Children will work on coordination, rhythm and imagination while moving to music. Cost is $25 for SCC members and $40 for non-members.

A Drums Alive Class begins at 5:15 p.m. every Thursday through Feb. 25. Cost is $6 per class for members and $7 for non-members. A 10-punch class pass is also offered at a discounted rate.

The new Fall Trail Run program for individuals interested in exploring the nature trails of Mill Creek Park begins at 9 a.m. at Lanterman’s Mill, 1001 Canfield Road, Youngstown, on the first three Saturdays in November. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

The Cookies, Cocoa and Candy Cane 5K Fun Run begins at 6 a.m. Nov. 26. Registrations starts at 5 p.m. This event also includes a visit with Santa and a soup dinner to families, walkers and individuals of all fitness levels. Cost prior to race day is $20 per person and $25 the day of the race. Register at RunSignUp.com.
