Canfield eighth-grade orientation session set tonight

CANFIELD — Canfield High School’s eighth-grade information and orientation session today includes tours, demonstrations, registration information, course selection assistance, National Honor Society information, class rank and graduation requirements. Parents and students will have the opportunity to ask questions and speak with teachers, guidance counselors and administration. Tours and displays in the cafeteria are slated from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by the informational session at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

Free spaghetti and meatballs dinner offered

NORTH GEORGETOWN — The public is invited to a free spaghetti and meatballs dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the First Brethren Church, 27333 Main St. The meal includes salad, beverage and dessert. Donations are accepted but not necessary.

Fleming House spring banquet and dance set Saturday

LISBON — The annual Fleming House spring banquet and dance will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, refreshments and cake. A DJ will provide dance tunes. The evening also includes gift basket and 50/50 raffles and a door prize drawing. The guest speaker is Laura Martin CDCA, Family Recovery Center’s case manager. Tickets are $8 for adults, $12 for couples and $3 for children. All proceeds benefit the Fleming House, the recovery center’s transitional housing facility for women in recovery and their children.

VFW post to host Daytona 500 Sherry Ford Benefit

WASHINGTONVILLE — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5532 at 575 S. County Road will host the second annual Daytona 500 Sherry Ford Memorial Benefit at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Drawings, Chinese auctions, raffles, food and prizes will be available during the event. All proceeds will go to Hospice of the Valley and the American Heart Association.

Tickets available for Fat Tuesday fundraiser

SALEM — Tickets are still available for the Salem Community Center, Kiwanis and Rotary club’s “Feed the Salem Community Pantry” Fat Tuesday fundraiser to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the community center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the center or from a Kiwanian or Rotarian.

Leetonia Legion auxiliary to meet March 1

LEETONIA — American Legion Joe Williams Post 131 Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. March 1. Nominations will be accepted for all offices.

Salem Saxon Club to host Lenten fish fries

SALEM — The Salem Saxon Club will host its sixth annual Lenten fish fries beginning March 3 and continuing each Friday through April 7 at the club, 1980 Newgarden Road (state Route 9). The public is invited from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dinners include your choice of baked or fried ocean cod, or breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce or cole slaw, homemade cake, coffee, tea, iced tea or punch. Cost is $11 for adults, $6 for children, and free for under 6. Carryouts are available by calling 330-222-1770 after 4:30 p.m. A cash bar will also be open to the public.

Smith Center plans spring bazaar March 4

SALEM — The Smith Center at 500 E. Fourth St. will host its spring bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4. In addition to wooden crafts and other crafts this year, there will be face painting and art projects for children for a small fee. Refreshments will be available for purchase including hot dogs, coney dogs, chips, beverages, etc.

Talk to elder law attorney at Blossom Center

SALEM — An elder law attorney will be available for one-on-one consultations regarding the law and legal rights for the elderly from 2 to 4 p.m. March 8 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 109 Blossom Lane. Rummage sale set March 10-11 in North Lima

NORTH LIMA — A rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10 and 9 a.m. to noon March 11 at North Lima Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. Baked goods and a food stand offering sandwiches, pie, snacks and beverages will be available both days. For more information call 330-549-2333.
