Salem High Alumni scholarship deadline

SALEM–The deadline for the Salem High School Alumni Association Scholarships for Post secondary/Alumni (college, vocational and graduate school) is April 1. Scholarship applications are available online at salemohioalumni.org under the Scholarship tab. SHS graduates’ complete applications must be received by noon on Saturday at the alumni office, 330 East State Street, Salem. Applications may be mailed or dropped off during regular business hours (9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday) or from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Salem High School Alumni Association (SHSAA) began on June 14, 1882, when 33 Salem High School alumni met with several of their former teachers. The next year the association began its tradition of holding an annual reunion banquet the night before graduation. Several years later, association members decided they wanted to help outstanding Salem High School graduates attend college.

The Salem High School Alumni Association awarded $365,425 in scholarships in 2016 to 101 students–58 graduating Salem High School seniors, 37 alumni who are enrolled in college and graduate school programs, and six current students, who received band camp scholarships.

Contact the alumni office at 330-332-1427 or scholarship@salemohioalumni.org with questions.
