CANFIELD–The May meeting of the Mahoning County Junior Fair Board included a picnic and training sessions for the members. Specail guests at the picnic were Senior Fair Board President Andy Frost and Board Members Steve Moff, Elwood Woolman, Bob Jarvis and Ward Campbell as well as Beth Smith, Mahoning County 4-H Youth Development. Several members of the Livestock Committees and Junior Fair Advisory were also present.

Before the picnic a photo session included pictures of the members and advisors. The training sessions began with a CARTEENS presentation by Trooper Daniel Deluca of the Canfield Post of the State Highway Patrol. The members were able to ask driving and safety of the road questions. After this session the members went through a ‘job fair’ learning about different jobs to do during the Canfield Fair as well as completing award applications and participating in a mock interview.

To finish out the festivities the Junior Fairboard members completed team building exercises.

The fair board will meet again at 7 p.m. June 20 at the Junior Fair Restuarant on the Canfield Fairgrounds. Junior Fair work schedules will distributed and pre-fair activities and workdays will be planned.
