SALEM — The Salem Apostolic Lighthouse will kick off its monthly free Community Cookouts at 7 p.m. May 24 in the back lot of the church property, located at 960 W. State St.

SALEM — The Banquet in Salem will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. Sponsor is the Salem Community Foundation. The menu will include pork loin and dressing, mashes potatoes and gravy, green beans with bacon, applesauce, fresh veggies and fruit and ice cream sundaes. SEBRING — Acts 2 Ministries of the Sebring/West Branch area will hold its monthly free clothing give-away from 10 until noon today. The give away will be at the Acts 2 Clothes Closet in Sebring, located behind Pine Lake Christian Church, 636 Pine Lake Road. Clothing is available to anyone needing it. There are no restrictions based on income or employment. Donations of good, gently used clothing items are welcome. Clothing is accepted for any season. Call about making clothing donations as a drop-off box is not available. Acts 2 Ministries is a partnership of churches in the Sebring-West Branch community. SALEM — St. Paul’s Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a fundraiser at Bob Evans in Salem, from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24. Bob Evans will donate 15 percent of sales for the organization’s charities fund. You must have a flyer and present it at check out. Flyers are available at all masses this Sunday and at the parish office.

SALEM — Concord Church will host an all-you-can-eat Swiss steak dinner from 4-7 p.m. today at the church located north of Salem on SR 45. Cost is $11 for adults and $6 for ages 5-12. Children 4 and under are free.

BOARDMAN — The Mahoning County Dahlia Society’s annual plant sale is Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road in Boardman. Plants will start selling at noon and continue until 4 p.m. or sold out. A large variety of dahlia plants from pompom to dinner-plate grown and nurtured for the last month by society members will be offered. Society members will help with plant selection and answer any questions about care of dahlias and garden preparation. The ready-to-plant dahlias will provide gorgeous blooms and brilliant colors until the first frost.
