WINONA – Area residents are invited to a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Winona Fire Department.
“Back to School Jamboree” planned at Salem church
SALEM — A fun afternoon for the family is planned during “Kids Back to School Jamboree” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Solid Rock Community Church, 1780 Franklin Ave. (state Route 344). In addition to a bounce house, there will be music, Bible stories, games, crafts, food and hourly drawings for prizes. Everything is provided, free of charge. No registration is necessary. Clothing giveaway set Saturday in Sebring
SEBRING — Acts 2 Ministries will hold its monthly free clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Acts 2 Clothes Closet located behind Pine Lake Christian Church, 636 Pine Lake Road. Back-to-school clothing is also available for students. The clothing is available to anyone. There are no restrictions based on income or employment.

Columbiana County Board of Elections meets Monday
LISBON — The Columbiana County Board of Elections plans to meet meet in regular session at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the board office located at 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite III.
“Back to the Fifties” program set at Salem Library
SALEM — “Back to the Fifties – Behind the American Dream” will be presented by Ohio History Connection from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Quaker Room of Salem Public Library. The program is open to the public and free of cost to attend.
This program will unveil and discuss the complex social issues everyday people faced in the 1950s and how these issues continue to affect present day society. Topics of discussion may include Cold War fears, African-American civil rights, the roles of women, teenage rebellion, science and education, and the blending of culture and society.

Open house set Aug. 25 at United Elementary
HANOVERTON — Open house will be held from 1 to 3:15 p.m. Aug. 25 at United Elementary School for students in kindergarten to sixth. The first day of school is Aug. 28. Class lists will be posted on the cafeteria windows a week before school starts.
