Assembly for Leetonia students to focus on taking right career path

LEETONIA — Author and speaker Michael B. Ross will present “Thrive: Get more of what you want by being more of who you are” in an assembly to Leetonia students in grades five through 12 on Oct. 18.

Ross is the president of Mainstream Leadership Network (MLN), a character development and leadership training company located in East Liverpool. He is the author of the books “Overcoming the Character Deficit” and “A Clearview: Unleashing the Power of a Positive Self-Image.”

Ross said some trends he’s seen in the workplace make him excited about presenting his material to Leetonia’s students. “Too many people go to work miserable because they’re working in a field they don’t enjoy,” Ross said. “I want the students to realize their unique gifting can and should be a part of their career path.”

MLN first worked with the Leetonia school system in 2011 and has offered various long-term leadership training programs and assemblies to middle and high school students over the past six years. This year’s assembly is funded by the Community Connectors grant–an initiative started by Governor John Kasich in 2014 to connect students with community leaders. The Community Connectors website says the purpose of the Community Connectors program is to “strengthen communities, encourage mentoring opportunities and create new pathways for civic engagement resulting in higher academic achievement, higher levels of well-being and health, and workforce readiness for our state.”

“I’m excited to ignite a passion that carries beyond the auditorium and out into the real world. I want to give students practical tips and inspiration toward living fulfilled and impactful lives today and in the future,” said Ross.
