Veterans Day ceremony planned at Columbiana HS, MS

COLUMBIANA — The annual Veterans Day ceremony at Columbiana High School and Middle School will recognize men and women who have served. The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the high school. Invitations have been sent to area veterans.

The high school Show Choir and Concert Band and the Middle School Choir and American Legion Post 290 are part of the ceremony. Brian Pearl is the guest speaker.

‘Spring Awakening’ rock musical planned at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN — Wesley Miller of Alliance is a cast member in Youngstown State University Theater’s (YSU) presentation of “Spring Awakening,” a rock musical at Bliss Hall on the campus. Miller is studying theater studies at YSU.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 and 2 p.m. Nov. 12 and 19.

Adult tickets are $16; $8 for non-YSU students, YSU faculty and staff with valid identification, senior citizens, Penguin Club members and groups of eight or more; and free for students with a valid YSU identification. Free community will be served Nov. 16

COLUMBIANA — A free community meal will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at St. Jude Church, 180 Seventh St.

Light Up Damascus Community Choir welcomes singers

DAMASCUS — Light Up Damascus Community Choir welcomes all singers to practice at 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road. The Light Up Damascus Ceremony is Dec. 9.

Threshold Residential Services holding garage sale fundraiser

EAST PALESTINE — Threshold Residential Services Inc. will hold a garage sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 9, 10 and 11 at its bus garage at 162 N. Walnut St. Proceeds will be used to support its employment and training programs for developmentally disabled adults.

“Goods for sale include housewares and home decor items, sports items, toys, tools, some furniture and primitives, as well as seasonal items,” said Larry Duck, executive director of Threshold.

The event is called the “Dollar Days Garage Sale” because 90 percent of the over 1,000 items being offered are priced at $1 or less. All items will sold “as is” and for cash only (no checks or credit cards). For more information contact Duck at 330-426-4165 Ext. 103 or lduck@threshold75.com.

Deerfield Cemetery Association Bazaar is Saturday

DEERFIELD — The 112th Deerfield Cemetery Association Bazaar will be held Saturday at the Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1483 Route 225. Beef and ham dinners will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry salads, cole slaw, rolls, desserts and beverage. Cost is $8. Carryouts are available. The bazaar will include a variety of arts, crafts and bake sale.

Arts/crafters wishing to sell their wares may contact Joyce Adams at 330-654-2344. There is no charge for a table, however, you are asked to make a donation to the association.

Deerfield Quilters have donated a handmade quilt that will be raffled off at the end of the evening. Proceeds are used in the care of the three cemeteries, Deerfield, Hartzell and Mottown.
