The Salem Historical Society’s meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dale Shaffer Library will feature “Walt Whitman: Bard of the Battlefield” presented by Pastor Carol Zeh. Pastor Zeh, active in Civil War organizations and a regular presenter, will present the history and read excerpts of poetry and prose written by Whitman from his experiences during the Civil War. Zeh taught for over 30 years at Perry High School in Massillon followed by 10 years at Akron University. She currently works at the Canton McKinley Museum and conducts the Planetarium presentations. She is an associate pastor at Stow Community Church. She is member and past president of Civil War Society of Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Valley. (Submitted photo)
