Salem Winter Band Concert set Thursday

SALEM — The Winter Band Concert begins at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Salem High School auditorium. Students in bands in grades seven to 12 will perform.

Fish fry planned at Leetonia Italian American Club

LEETONIA — The public is invited to a fish fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Leetonia Italian American Club, 202 Main St. Carryouts are available by calling 330-427-9900.

Friday Quakertown Trolley tours canceled

SALEM — The Salem Historical Society has canceled its Quakertown Trolley tours on Friday due to unforeseen circumstances.

Tours are still scheduled at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Dec. 19. If, however, there are not at least 15 passengers for each tour, tour groups may need to take another time rather than their preference. For reservations call 330-337-6733 and leave a message.

Santa to visit with kids, pets at Jen’s Paint Cellar

SALEM — Santa will visit with children and friendly pets from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday during “Photos with Santa Paws” at Jen’s Paint Cellar, 1098 E. State St. Digital photos are $5 and donations are welcome. Proceeds will benefit Close to Home Animal Rescue (cthar.org).

Alchemy Acres plans additional open house

ROGERS — Due to popular demand, Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary is adding another date for an open house for the public to visit its new home, Whispering Pines Castle at 6295 Adams Road, Rogers. The additional open house will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The castle will be decorated for the holiday and refreshments will be served. Admission is $10. All proceeds will benefit the animals at Alchemy Acres.

Boy Scout Troop 3 and Pack 3 to light luminaries

SALEM — Area residents are invited to join Boy Scout Troop 3 and Pack 3 to light a luminary to remember those giving, receiving and waiting for organ transplants this holiday season. The ceremony begins at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 19 at the First Presbyterian Church, 436 E. Second St.

Breakfast buffet offered inNorth Lima Dec. 30

NORTH LIMA — An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will be available from 7 to 10 a.m. Dec. 30 at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive.

Items on the buffet will include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade pastries, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice, etc. Donations will be accepted. For more information call the church at 330-549-2333.

Winners of Damascus poster contest announced

DAMASCUS — Winners of the “How Does Your Christmas Sparkle?” poster contest from the Light Up Damascus event have been announced. Students in kindergarten to fourth grade in the West Branch Local School District were invited to participate. Homeschool groups were also welcomed and encouraged to participate.
