Benefit dance planned at Deerfield Town Hall

DEERFIELD–The Deerfield House Band is sponsoring a benefit dance for the Joe Horner Family from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Deerfield Town Hall. There will be many baskets, pie walks and special events. Refreshments will be available.

Admission for this benefit is $5 per adult. All proceeds will benefit the Horner Family which recently lost their 47-year-old daughter who had undergone many surgeries at the Cleveland Clinic.

Community Hospice to host volunteer open house

‘Rainforest’ videoconference set at Salem Library

SALEM–The Salem Public Library will host “Rainforest, Layers of Life” to be presented by the Toledo Zoo via interactive videoconferencing at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. During the presentation visitors will learn where rainforests are located, what they look, feel and sound like and, most importantly, why they are so essential.

Free of cost and open to the public, the program is suitable for school students and adults alike. It is part of the “Live from Anywhere” series program.

Salem baseball teams to host poker tournament

SALEM–The Salem Quakers Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball teams will be hosting a fundraiser Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament to support the 2018 season.

It will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Salem Italian-American Club. Registration will be open from noon to 12:45 p.m. Buy-in is $50, with an opportunity to re-buy for $25. Cash prizes will be awards to top finishers.

Thursday Banquet in Salem to feature meatloaf

SALEM– The Thursday Banquet in Salem will be in memory of Todd and Garrett Vadino and Carson Bonar on Thursday and the menu will be chicken noodle soup, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, apple sauce, fresh veggies and fruit and pie.
