Economic Development Committee to meet

SALEM — The Economic Development Committee of city council will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center headquarters off of Pennsylvania Avenue for the purpose of getting to know the new SOD Center executive director Julie Needs.

Canfield kindergarten informational meeting planned

CANFIELD–The Canfield Local School District is holding an informational meeting for parents or guardians of all incoming kindergarten students at 6:30 p.m. today at C.H. Campbell Elementary School. This meeting is for students entering C.H. Campbell and Hilltop Elementary schools.

The session will include information about transportation, school procedures, kindergarten readiness, age requirements and becoming involved in your child’s school.

Salem Saxon Club to host Lenten fish fries

SALEM–The Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Road (state Route 9) will host it’s first of six of this year’s annual Lenten Public Fish Fries from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Dinners include choice of baked or fried ocean cod or breaded pork chops, escalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce or cole slaw, homemade cake, coffee/tea, iced tea or punch. The cost is $11 for adults and $6 children over 5 years. Carryouts are available by calling 330-222-1770 after 4:30 p.m. Cash bar will be open to the public.

Breakfast brunch offered at North Lima Mennonite Church

NORTH LIMA–The North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Dr., will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast/brunch from 7 to 10 a.m. Feb. 24. Items on the buffet will include eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade pastries, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. Mahoning Soil Districts sets pond clinic March 24

CANFIELD–The Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District (MSWCD) will hold its 2018 Pond/Lake Clinic at 10 a.m. March 24 at On Target Outfitters (OTO), 7209 W. Calla Road. The educational and informative seminar focuses on hobby, sportsman and agricultural aquatics, pond and lake site development and the various species to stock. Steve Fender of Fender Fish Farm and Steve Prebonick, a soil scientist with the Ohio Department of Agriculture, will be the guest speakers.

An optional lunch will be provided for a $5 donation to On Target Outfitters.
