SALEM — The Salem Public Library board of trustees’ regular meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the library.

Lisbon BOE to meet June 21

LISBON — Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education’s regular meeting starts at 5 p.m. June 21 in the board room at 317 N. Market St.

Puzzle, game day offered at SPL

SALEM — Salem Public Library at 821 E. State St. has a variety of activities to sharpen your mind and brighten your day from 2 to 3 p.m. June 21 in the Quaker Room. There will be board games, dominoes, Sudoku, etc. No registration is needed and there is no cost to participate. For more information call the library at 330-332-0042.

SPL hosting oil pastel instructor

SALEM — Artist W. Daniel Dinsio will provide instruction in the use of oil pastels during a two-part program in the Quaker Room at Salem Public Library. Part one, “Introduction to Oil Pastels” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. July 22 and continue from 2 to 4 p.m. July 29 with part two, “Create a Still Life Drawing” using the techniques learned in part one. Part one is a prerequisite for taking part two. All materials will be provided. This program for adults is free of cost. Registration is required for both classes at salem.lib.oh.us or 330-332-0042.

Firestone Park concerts slated

COLUMBIANA — The Firestone Park Summer Concert Series will continue through Aug. 19 in the park’s gazebo. Admission is free to the concerts which are held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The schedule follows.

June 24: Route 45 Band, sponsored by Wilms Brothers Landscaping and Family Drug.

July 1: Manhattan Band, sponsored by Columbiana American Legion Post 290 and Gamma Eta Sorority.

July 15: The House Band, sponsored by the Columbiana Community Foundation and Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce.

July 29: The Boardman Jazz Ensemble, sponsored by Grace Church and Don Warren Barbershop.

Aug. 5: Silver and Gold, sponsored by the East Fairfield Methodist Church.

Aug. 19: Sarah Warner and Friends, sponsored by the Fairfield Ruritan Club.

Instrument seminar set at library

LISBON — All ages invited to a musical instrument seminar given by Dave Byers with DC Music at 6:30 p.m. June 26 at Lepper Library. Byers will provide an overview of music in general and showcase different types of instruments and allow for people to try them. To sign up call 330-424-3117.

‘Music in Movies’ planned at SPL

SALEM — The Cleveland Institute of Music will present “Music in Movies,” a videoconference program at 6:30 p.m. June 28 in the Quaker Room at the Salem Public Library. The program takes a look at the movies, with an ear toward learning how music helps to tell a story and heighten the emotional impact of movie scenes. Register at salem.lib.oh.us or 330-332-0042.

Farmageddon set for July 15

COLUMBIANA — The Labra Brothers and The Slim Pickens Band will set the stage for Lamppost Farm’s “Farmageddon 2018, A Chew and Brew” from 3 to 8 p.m. July 15 at 14900 Market St. Each of five participating food trucks will be teamed with a brewery in a culinary competition designed to showcase a signature ‘brew’ and complimenting ‘chew’ using Lamppost’s quality meat. Participants will vote on their favorite pairing with ballots drawn throughout the evening for guest prizes before being counted to award the winning chew/brew team.

Event passports are $40 per person and include a generous sampling of food and beer at each food truck/brewery pairing, an event pint glass, live music and games. A “DD package” for two individuals at $70 includes two chew passports and one brew passport. Individuals must be 21 years of age or older to participate in tastings. Vendors needed for craft show

LAKE MILTON — Vendors are needed for the “Arts and Crafts at the Beach” sponsored by the Lake Milton Women’s League. This annual event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11 outdoors at Lake Milton State Park. Vendors will be set up at the waterfront along the walking path at the beach area on Grandview Road. Beaver Creek education

volunteer training available

EAST LIVERPOOL — A series of volunteer orientation training sessions will be offered this summer at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center. These sessions, slated from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 18, July 16 and Aug. 20, are for current volunteers or for people who think they would like to become a volunteer. Volunteer opportunities and responsibilities will be explained and include training in three different areas of the center. Attending these meetings is not required to become a volunteer.
