Support Group to meet

SALEM – The Alzheimer Network Family Support Group meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. today at Emmanuel Lutheran Education Building, 251 S. Broadway Ave. All meetings are offered at no charge. For more information call 330-788-9755.

Events planned at New

Waterford Eagles

NEW WATERFORD — The following events are open to the public at the New Waterford Aerie 2415 Eagles Club, 3614 Creek Road, a non-profit organization.

Wing specials will be available from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday with fish dinners served from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday.

A steak fry will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, or until the food runs out. A dance featuring the band Sector 7 follows from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

The public is also invited to breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday. Queen of Hearts tickets are available at all events.

Mahoning Valley Young

Professionals to meet

BOARDMAN — Mahoning Valley Young Professionals will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road Unit B. This mixer is sponsored by HBK CPAs & Consultants. In observance of Diaper Need Awareness Month, entrance is $5 for members and non-members or free if you donate a pack of diapers. The diapers will be given to the Diaper Bank at Making Kids Count. “Soup N Salad” offered in Deerfield

DEERFIELD — “Soup N Salad” will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Palmy Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star at the Deerfield Masonic Hall, 2380 state Route 225. The menu offers chicken Mexicali, vegetable beef, potato, french onion, noodle and chili. Cost is $6 per person and includes salad, soups, crackers, breads, dessert and beverage. Carryouts are available.

Raising butterflies topic Saturday

EAST LIVERPOOL — Nicole Carson from Barefoot Beginnings Goods and Produce will discuss raising butterflies, particularly monarchs, during a program from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center (beavercreekw@aol.com). At 4:30 p.m. Carson, assisted by the visitors, will take some of the butterflies out to release them around the wildlife center.

Salem AMVETS to meet

SALEM — AMVETS Post 45 at 750 S. Broadway Ave. has scheduled the following meetings on Sept. 30 at the post home. Trustees will meet at 10:30 a.m., the Executive Committee meets at 11 a.m., followed by the membership meeting at noon.

Purple Door Breakfast set

LISBON — The Christina House Domestic Violence Program’s Purple Door Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 4 at St. George Hall, 271 W. Chestnut St. The breakfast is the kickoff for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Registration begins at 8 a.m. All members of the community are invited to this event to show their support for victims and survivors of domestic violence. This year’s theme is “Hope Behind the Purple Door.” Statistics reveal that each day in Ohio approximately 1,000 persons are living in domestic violence shelters. In one year over 100 Ohioans are killed in domestic violence-related incidents.

The breakfast is co-sponsored by Ozer Ministries and the Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services. There is no cost to attend the breakfast, however reservations are appreciated by Oct. 2 by calling 330-420-0845.

Rummages sales planned in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — A rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 and 29 and Oct. 5 and 6 at the Columbiana United Methodist Church, 210 S. Main St.

Salem 1961 birthday party

SALEM — Reservations are being accepted for the Salem High School Class of 1961’s informal 75th birthday party. The event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Salem Eagles Club.
