UCT Salem Council #590 holds safety poster contest

United Commercial Travelers (UCT) of America Salem Council #590 held a safety poster contest earlier this year at Robert Bycroft School. Three levels participated. The lower level consisted of grades five and under, the middle level grade six through eighth and the upper level was ninth through 12th. First place awards were $25 and second place awards were $15. These winning posters then went to the state convention to be judged which was held this past June at the Embassy Suites in Columbus. Awards in each group were: First, $25; second, $15; and third, $15. The total number of prizes won were $120 from Salem and $40 from the state or Ohio Grand. The awards were presented on Sept. 14 at Robert Bycroft School by Salem UCT Council members, Al Lutz, Ron Shively and Homer Huprich. Children present to receive their awards were Wynonna Husk (Salem first place middle level), Christopher Rose (Salem second place middle level) and Zachery Latta (Salem second place upper level and state second place).
