Pioneer Craft Days set at Beaver Creek State Park

EAST LIVERPOOL — Area residents are invited to Pioneer Craft Days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Pioneer Village in Beaver Creek State Park. In addition to crafters and demonstrations, there will be activities, entertainment, food, amateur photo contest and a scarecrow contest. Admission and parking are free. Lunch for seniors offered at Winona Family Life Center

WINONA — A free lunch will be provided to ages 55 or older from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Winona Family Life Center at the Winona Friends Church on Whinnery Road.

“Living With Hip and Knee Arthritis” program set

SALEM — “Living With Hip and Knee Arthritis” is the topic of the Wellness Wednesday program at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Quaker Room at the Salem Public Library. Guest speaker will be Dominic J. Peters, M.D. of Salem Regional Medical Center. Registration is required at salem.lib.oh.us or 330-332-0042.

Dr. Peters became part of Salem Orthopaedic Surgery practice at Salem Regional Medical Center in 2015. He is trained in adult hip and knee arthritis replacement surgery with special focus in the use of “Anterior Total Hip Arthroplasty” for hip replacement. His surgical work also includes total and partial knee replacement; complex hip and knee revision surgery; general orthopaedic surgery; and the care of fractures/traumatic musculoskeletal injuries.

Business Showcase planned at Generations Cafe

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce invites residents and business owners to attend the Business Showcase on Oct. 11 at Generations Cafe, 31 S. Main St. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments, networking and brief presentations by Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce members. Algonquin Mill Fall Festival set Oct. 12-14

CARROLLTON — The 48th annual Algonquin Mill Fall Festival is slated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12-14. The event features a pioneer village, homemade foods such as apple butter, sauerkraut, cookies, bean soup, craft demonstrations, photo and art show, children’s activities, live entertainment, juried craft vendors, antiques cars etc. The historic steam-powered flour mill will be grinding corn, wheat and spelt and steam engines will be making wooden shingles. Log cabins and the two-story log house will be open to visitors. Children can enjoy train rides, a petting zoo, face painting and sand art.

“Tricks and Many Treats” set at Whispering Pines Village

COLUMBIANA — A night of “Tricks and Many Treats” begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Whispering Pines Village, 937 E. Park Ave. Children are invited to enjoy Halloween with a fun and safe indoor trick or treat extravaganza, followed by apple cider and doughnuts. Parents/guardians are also welcome.

“Walk Warm Program” resumes in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — The “Walk Warm Program” for the Columbiana Exempted Village School District community has resumed on Oct. 1. The Walk Warm Program invites adults to walk in school hallways as a healthy way in which to receive good exercise away from inclement weather conditions.

Columbiana High School: The building is open for this program from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed on school holidays and when school is canceled). Due to safety concerns, only the gym wing doors (west side of the building facing the large parking lot) will be open. Exit can be made at any time through any door, but entrance can be made only through the west side gym wing doors.

Joshua Dixon Elementary School: The building is open for this program from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed on school holidays and when school is canceled). The main front doors, only, will be open for entry and exit.
