Lisbon students excel at reading over the summer

Results of the 2018 Scholastic Summer Reading Program, “A Magical Summer of Reading, “ revealed Lisbon Exempted Village School District placed fifth in Ohio. Students from pre-kindergarten to seventh grade participated. Students read or are read to over the summer and logged their minutes into the website which kept a tally of their minutes and gave them virtual rewards (badges and stories) for their effort. At the McKinley Elementary Fall Scholastic Book Fair, all Lisbon students who read 600 minutes or more were rewarded with a certificate and a free book from the book fair. This year 23 students at McKinley read over 600 minutes and three at David Anderson Junior/Senior. High School. Lisbon Exempted Village School has placed in the top fifth place since Scholastic initiated the program over 10 years ago. In 2016 the school district placed first in the state and received a plaque presented by a representative from Scholastic.
